Entry Forty Eight: “Like Festive Er No?”
Woah good morning everybody! It feels illegal to send another email so soon, but that's just what happens when you move P-Days. Honestly this week felt so scuffed just because of the speed, but it was really good. I hope that you (yes you, the very cool and awesome one reading this ;) ) had a good week too!
Like I mentioned last week, I got to go to the temple woot woot! I had a super spiritual experience and it was just a good time all together. But then afterwards we got to hit up In N Out??? Yuuuup. The first two In N Outs on this side of the Mississippi opened this past Wednesday, one of which is literally a block away from my apartment. That's right, be jealous all my friends on missions outside of the west coast π
But like don't worry, my bragging caught up to meal real fast π
We had to wait in line for two hours, which practically spoiled our member meal (we were so full going in). Then, afterwards we had the cops called on us while proselyting π
Yeahhhhh, so I tried getting the attention of these 2 parents to invite them to church, but only got the attention of their teenage daughter. They took that as catcalling, and got the store manager to tell us to bounce.
THEN, we go across the street (at this point we're on a phone lesson with Nick) to finish our call, and the family spots us, thinking we're following them. So, they call the cops and he tells us to get out of there. Probably the craziest thing was that we were teaching Nick about enduring to the end. I just hope Kendrick Lamar doesn't make his next diss track about me π
At least the next day we had interviews with the mission president and now all is well in Zion! π
As for the rest of the week, we had our ward Christmas party, did lots of fun service (side note I love Lebanon so much there are so many charities we get to work with, special shout out to FAM Essentials), and got to take the sacrament. Very good week.
For a (hopefully) quick spiritual thought, I wanted to share a verse I came across this week:
And his voice shall be heard: I have trodden the wine-press alone, and have brought judgment upon all people; and none were with me; (D&C 133:50)
This is the Savior speaking about his experience in the Garden of Gethsemane. The imagery of treading the wine-press alone is very real to me. I think the most crucial and critical part of his sacrifice for us was going through complete abandonment, even from God's presence for a brief period.
If Christ had not gone through it alone there would be no way he would completely understand us. He could not succor our lowest of lows. I testify that his presence is so very real. None were with him, so that one could be with us. He lives. He loves you. And I bear my witness in his name, Jesus Christ, amen.
At the throne I intercede; for thee ever do I plead. I have loved thee as thy friend, with a love that cannot end. Be obedient, I implore, prayerful, watchful evermore, and be constant unto me, that thy Savior I may be.
Love y'all ❤️
Elder Clayton
