Entry Thirty Eight: The Return of Goldfish To My Diet

Hallo! I couldn’t think of a funny title this week, so I’ll just dedicate it to the fact that I apparently have gone 8 months without goldfish crackers until this conference weekend. Mmmmm. Yummy.

I hope y’all had a fantastical week! As I mentioned previously, it was transfers, and I got moved from Jamestown! To… Lebanon. 100 miles west. Same zone. Same stake. However, this is actually super awesome! Lebanon is about 25 or so miles from Nashville, I’m with Elder Hales (THE GOAT), there’s a whole lot more people, an actual downtown square we can walk around, and our whole district is within a 10 minute drive of each other, rather than an hour drive of each other! Safe to say, I love it here already :)

Our first day was somewhat cooked because of lots of driving, and also our apartment hadn’t been used in about 3 weeks, so it wasn’t looking like we were gonna be finding a lot of people to teach and get some momentum going in our area. By God’s grace alone, we stumbled upon a public event at the local park and were able to find 4 people on that first day!

General conference was incredible this weekend! I legit was fighting some personal demons going into it, but I can testify that God knows us super intimately, and can speak directly to us, even to the piercing of our very souls. Here’s a statement Elder Kearon made that really struck a chord with me:

“You don’t have to be who you’ve been before.”

It’s super cool to see him work through church leaders from around the world to give a general, yet personalized message in conferences. We truly do have live revelations in these days, and prophets and seers are real! Listen to them! When the talks from this conference come out for study later this week, I would advise you to find 1 or 2 quotes that pierced your very soul, and put it up in your room somewhere.

God speaks to his children, and looks for every opportunity to bless and comfort us. I so testify of these things in the name of Christ, our Savior, amen.

There is springtime in my soul today, for when the Lord is near, the dove of peace sings in my heart, the flowers of grace appear.

Love y’all!

-Elder Clayton
